Codo Bags

CODO makes understated chic leather bags with heart-warming twists for women who want well-made peices that are exclusive and effortless.

We are a London based brand and our bags handcrafted in Italy using traditional leather crafting techniques only to be found in Florence with fine quality raw materials.

Sourced with care, Codo works with selected certified suppliers with whom we share the same values. To keep a strict eye on sustainability and welfare we decided to produce only in Europe – using Italian leather.

As a step towards becoming a responsible company, we offer life long repairs on all our products. What is beyond repair, return to us so that we can recycle or repurpose it.

1.Where do you seek inspiration for your collections?

Inspiration is everywhere! There is no particular place where we always look – I feel always keeping my eyes open to inspiration is important, as it can come from the least expected place. We are always thinking and racking our brains on producing less waste, and creating a better product & brand so it maybe that I get more easily excited by something like that.

2.Which one is your favourite piece from collection and why?

It’s hard to choose! Each piece was created in different time and in a different mood but they all share the same ‘WHY’ (they exist). That is always very clear. We create each handbag to fit in a modern woman’s wardrobe and life, not the other way around. To us, good design isn’t just about aesthetics but also about thinking why it needs to exist. Hence things like quality, costs and sustainability are just as important to us as the design itself

3.What is the most rewarding thing as a designer?

Be able to get absorbed in the creation of something is very rewarding and enriching in itself. It’s a kind of hard-won freedom that requires hard work, passion and sometimes all you’ve got but that’s makes you feel alive and kicking! Also in the space of creative exploration there are no barriers which is very liberating.

4.If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?

I would be a sculptor! I would still be creating things, sculpting is so hand-on and you can be absorbed in every moment completely for hours on end.  My sculptures would probably be quite political and feminist.

5. Your favourite moment of the day?

I started practicing SGI Nichiren Buddhism about seven years ago, so as part of the practice on waking every morning, I start the day with an hour or more of chanting. It refreshes, recharges and invigorates me to take on the day and it’s challenges. It also inspires me with fresh new ideas and solutions when I need it.
