Lisa Lemon Bags on FashionHunters

The brand concept is simply to create stylish bags and accessories which free-up the owner to travel light, have their hands free and provide peace of mind that possessions are being taken care of.

Lisa Lemon hands-free bags are gorgeous, bright, leather bags which fit snuggly around the waist. They are not designed to be discreet or hidden away, they are statement bags, happy to be in the limelight!

Whether you’re out and about in the city, watching a band in a muddy field or travelling to the sun, Lisa Lemon hands-free bags keep all of your precious belongings safely and stylishly close-by, freeing up both hands to answer a mobile call, carry a coffee, hold a hand…

Using the best raw materials means that the bags will age beautifully. Made from gorgeous Italian vegetable tanned leather and stylish fittings, the leather belt hugs the waist whilst the sam brown adjustable fasteners ensure that the fit feels snug and secure. There’s an internal phone pocket and clip to keep keys and Lisa Lemon accessories safely attached inside your bag.

The provenance of each one of products is of the highest importance, we regularly visit our factory here in England and work closely with the production team to ensure that quality is maintained. The vegetable tanned leather is kinder to our environment, with processes handed down from father to son for over 200 years producing unique characteristics which continuously change the leather for the better as it ages. The colours have rich warm tones that look completely natural.

// INTERVIEW with Lisa Lemon, Founder

Using the best raw materials means that the bags will age beautifully

1.where do you seek inspiration for your collections?

Inspiration comes from travel, magazines, nature, movies anywhere with interesting images.

Ideas can spark from a very simple, brief interaction with something, it’s the development of a plan to share it with others which turns an idea into reality.

Our brand is focussed on ‘hands-free’ being the future when it comes to convenience and style.

2.which one is your favourite piece from your collection and why?

The Loveday bag is my favourite, it’s simple, stylish and versatile, it can be worn around the waist for travel, festivals and sightseeing then across body in the evenings. It was also important to make accessories to clip inside our bags, mixing the colours, adding an element of fun and always practical.

3. When you are creating a piece or a collection, how does the process work?

De-clutter and travel light. I like the idea of a bum bag but style has never been its strength. I set about rethinking every feature of the bum bag, maintaining its function but rethinking the form.

The belt design on the Lisa Lemon bags is an integral part of the product, the fastening and extending of the belt is exposed so this had to be considered when coming up with the final designs. We use simple, contemporary Italian and English trims that do the job perfectly and look and feel beautiful.

4. How did you get into designing bags?

We all experience those occasions where it would be really helpful not to have to think about holding on to a handbag.

Everything around us seems to be getting smaller, more stylish and convenient – mobile phones, computers with the exception of the means to carry all of our essentials around stylishly and securely.

After a fruitless search for a bum bag, I decided to design a range of ‘hands-free’ bags and accessories from beautiful leather using stylish trims which any one would feel happy to wear. Keep possessions close-by whilst freeing up both hands to get on with life.

5. If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?

I think I would like to be an inventor. I love looking at the way we do things, asking why it is done that way and then coming up with improvements.

6.Your favourite moment of the day?

The start of a new day, with the sun shining and the birds singing, the world is a lovely place.

I usually go out for a quick run with friends, pick up a cappuccino, quick shower and then off to work.
