MDK is a Zurich based independent fashion design label founded by Miranda Kaloudis.
The label is creating product oriented all season apparel & accessory collections with a high standard on aesthetics as well as on functionality.
The setup of the products is reflected, as well as deconstructed and put together new. Innovative combinations of apparel and accessories are often leading to a hybrid condition.
Thus the body is in a way upgraded, which raises the wearing comfort.
Besides the future orientated design, innovation is especially important in the selection of high quality fabrics. Technical waterproof and heat insulating materials face high quality natural fibers.
Nature is steadily an inspiration for the construction and the shapes. Nature versus technology, past versus future: apparent oppositions clash with the process of designing, however to form a new kind of future aesthetic they connect.
The outcome is a concisely urban, mystic and futuristic look.
Inspiration comes together from various angles. Very often I get inspired by natural shapes and functions. On the other hand my designs are also influenced by everyday urban life and its needs.
This contrasty, which actually isn’t no more, as soon as a product is put together is characteristical for MDK.
Personally I took TESRIS “black coal” to be my everyday companion. I ride my bike every day whereever I go and carry around a lot of stuff, so a backpack which can hold some volume and has a practical closure, additionally of having an ellegant and timeless design, is perfect for my personal needs.
However in view of the challenge in designing I am very proud about “EN”.
I mostly work with rectangular and triangular shapes, so It wasn’t easy for me to create a roundish backpack that doesnt look childish nor funny.
The product itself when it comes back from production all finished up and perfect!
Additionally to that, the moment you see people wearing your stuff in the city and looking awesome with them.
I then would like to be a restaurant owner.
Night! Around midnight till the morning hours it’s my most productive period of the day.
