Nasongo Atelier Leather Bags

Handcrafted bags and accessories designed with love & made of the finest european leathers

NaSoNgo is a young brand of leather bags and accessories based in Paris and Munich created by Designer Sonja Göggelmann.
Her work is all about the passion for leather. The materials used all originate from Europe and are carefully selected.

As she says herself: « The special fascination of leather is its vitality and warmth. It tells stories with its characteristic pores and maybe even little scars. They are not a deficiency, it just shows the authenticity and indiviuality of the material. We should not forget that leather is the skin of an animal, that has to be treated with respect and dignity. »

She taps the full potential of every piece of leather, therefore the NaSoNgo collection extends in many different accessories. Every piece is unique, thoroughly manufactured and expresses the affection she has for her work.

To preserve the authenticity of the high quality leather a lining is obsolete and can be perceived by the touch and smell of each article inside and outside.

It is Sonja‘s goal that her clients have as much enjoyment of wearing her bags and using her accessories as she has of fabricting them.

Her inspiration draws from daily life, her friends, materials and her love to experiment and reinvent the use and signification of objects. NaSoNgo‘s philosophy is creating elegant, simple and intelligent solutions combining comfort and a nice touch.

1.Where do you seek inspiration for your collections?

I love to experiment and reinvent, I follow my taste and get inspired by daily urban life and my friends. Very often I touch a leather and from its rigidity, softness or colour I get an idea of what to create with it.

My designs are sober, but fun and surprising, with high quality materials, flashy colours and unconventional combinations.

I set value on comfort and ergonomics. Smart solutions for details make in my opinion often the difference between just pretty and a good design.

2.Which one is your favourite piece from your collection and why?

I love the Patch-Clucth because of its versatility:

There are so many ways of wearing it, as a clutch or a purse, open or folded, in one colour or the other.

For me as a woman who likes to be elegant and feminin, but also needs practical solutions it is the perfect purse – day and night.

3. What is the most rewarding thing as a designer?

With the right kind of passion there are no limits to creation.

I love to talk with my friends and clients about their needs and how to find the perfect solution.

Seeing them making my bag their own feels pretty good.

4. If you weren’t a designer, what would you be?

I started out as a product designer when I discovered the beauty of working with leather.

What I love about my job is that I can design, craft and try out my products myself.

If I weren’t a designer, I’d probably try to be one…

5.Your favourite moment of the day?

The end of day, when I finished what I had planned for the day, and behold it is good 😉
