Sunday spirit
The DNA incarnation of Sunday Life, is designed towards city girls who wish to dress with style, remaining discreet yet with no sacrifice towards freedom and comfort.
Sunday concept: to think and produce pleasant clothing that may be worn every day, every moment and with complete freedom.
I’m inspired by my numerous encounters, by nature and all that surrounds me. Most of the time, inspiration lies in my everyday life: my meetings, a picture, during a journey …
Sometimes I’m intrigued about how a dress can change, even just by the simple action of sitting down, what creases will be formed and where.
All that is where my source of inspiration comes from.
Sunday Life is designed towards city girls who wish to dress with style, remaining discreet yet with no sacrifice towards freedom and comfort.
I paid particular attention to the choice of materials, and the precision of the cuts: clean and decorated with delicate details, to create timeless essential that combine style and comfort.
In the SS 2017 collection, there is a print called « Cactus ». It has made its roots through this summer’s collection, filling a range of dresses, tops and bomber jackets with energy.
For this collection, I wanted to express that the free spirit draws it force from wild nature and I immediately thought about the cactus, luxurious plant life and decorative forms.
I asked EASEL, one of the most famous print studios in Japan to draw this « Cactus » exclusively for Sunday Life. I enjoyed the exchange with them a lot and love their print!
At the different moments of my life, there is always something that interests me more and it is often at the genesis of the theme of my collection. For me, the theme is more a source of inspiration than a rigid framework.
Then I start to draw sketches, writing down what I think and feel around the collection, searching the best fabrics and see if there are new technologies available in this domain.
At the same time, I start making draping, test the different fabrics to create my models … and sometimes I have to restart all the process just because of a tiny detail.
When the prototype is finally completed, I can develop it to full sizes.
If I wasn’t a fashion designer, I would be a designer in another domain.
When I was studying in the school “La chambre syndicale de la Couture Parisienne”, my teacher asked “What is luxury?”.
Before I thought I loved luxury, that I knew luxury, I had some beautiful pieces. But the teacher said “Luxury is not about the price, it’s about time taken to create something”. This opened my mind and made me think about my job differently.
I like quiet moments that allow me to concentrate and take advantage of what I am doing at the moment.
In Sunday, the rapid pace of the week allows time to relax, my mind is more freed, I could observe my universe differently. I realize that’s where my source of inspiration comes from. Such enhancement allowing me to be more creative. That is why my brand is called SUNDAY LIFE.
SUNDAY LIFE … Pour les jours inspirés (for inspired days)
